About Johnny.
Hi! I’m Johnny, you might see me running around the city with a camera in hand. I’m a New York City-based photographer specializing in track & field, running, events and portraits. I grew up in the Lower East Side, moved around the city a bit, and now call Brooklyn home. My work has been featured in The New York Times, GQ, Runner’s World, and Citius Mag, and I’ve collaborated with brands such as New Balance, On Running and Tracksmith.
My path into photography wasn’t planned, even though my early school years hinted at artistic talent. I spent over 13 years working at a financial institution, and when I finally decided it was time to move on, photography wasn’t even on my radar. I just knew I needed a fresh start.
Not long after, my girlfriend (now my wife) gave me a camera for my birthday. It was meant to be a fun gift and something new to try. I had no idea it would end up reshaping my entire career.
I started out photographing friends running in Central Park in the fall of 2019. As a runner myself, I understand the dedication it takes - the early morning workouts, the mental battles, and the moments of breakthrough. Capturing people in motion resonated with me instantly: the energy, the effort, the emotion. I found myself drawn to images that aren’t just seen, but felt. One shoot led to another, and photography naturally became part of who I am.
And then, just as I decided to pursue photography full time, COVID hit.
Since then, my focus has always been on capturing authentic moments - the real expressions, the quiet in-between frames, the emotions that linger in an image. Whether I’m photographing athletes, corporate events, brand stories, or portraits, I try to approach every project the same way: with a personable style, clear communication, and a respect for the people in front of my lens.
I pride myself on being reliable, easy to work with, and fast turnaround times. My years in a client-focused environment taught me the importance of great service, and I bring that same level of professionalism into every shoot. My goal is to make the process smooth, collaborative, and enjoyable so the final photos reflect the best version of you or your story.
That unexpected birthday gift led me to a career I love and clients I'm honored to work with. If you're looking for someone who genuinely cares about telling your story, I'd love to hear from you.
